Zsunami - Upstate Gardens

I first learned about Upstate Gardens about a year ago when I went to Not Your Average Fest, and it’s been a mystery since then why it’s not more common on import menus. Terpy Dabber now is stocking their Zsunami flower after he started carrying their rosin earlier in the year, and if I’m being real their flower hits with better first impressions than the already exceptional rosin. Zsunami is hybrid between Planet Purple x Moonbow 112 bred by Archive Seeds and released back around the end of 2023. This version seems to be their own selection and it’s super Z forward. A lot of versions of Zsunami have a more fibonacci type calyx layering you see from Sherb line offerings, but this one is more golfball dense and it looks more like a stout Z. It’s still covered and resin and absolutely reeks out of the jar. The aroma is lime rind forward but it’s got equal parts tart and confectionary sweet behind it. The flavor is more of the same and it completely coats the palate. While the sensory traits are pretty close to Z, don’t be fooled, Zsunami also hits like a truck, the potency is truly blistering. It’s more of the same sort of wired chill you get from Z but with a bit more of the heavy eye you get from elsewhere in the lineage. Overall, Zsunami from Upstate Gardens is one of the strongest offerings I’ve tried from Maine this year and it’s a really cool take on this genetic. The value is incredible but the quality outright is exceptional too.
