Permanent Marker - Funk House Farm
If you’ve been reading this column for a while, you’ve seen a lot of positive press from Funk House Farm, with the biggest reason being the quality, consistency and price of their products is hard to beat. While this herb is of the same quality and price I’d expect, the provenance of this cut of Permanent Market tarnishes the experience. Like other options from Funk House, this is dense, fresh, covered in resin and overall excellent in the eye appeal department; except for one thing. If you’ve smoked Permanent Marker a few times before, you’ll recognize that this nug is much too purple, whereas in a proper batch of Perm it’s more of a mix of neon green and black leaves. While this flower grinds well, is pungent and is even very smooth, the biggest indicator that this isn’t prime Perm is in the flavor, where it’s more of a standard sugar funk rather than the striking Sharpie fumes. The hybrid on Permanenet Marker is (Biscotti S1/Sherb Bx x Jealousy) and in my book, this is more likely to be a cut of just Jealousy. The big reason this is disappointing is that Funk House has in the past hit the nail on the head with Biscotti and Runtz, so I expected Perm, to be of that same provenance. The effects are reasonably cozy with solid potency, but it’s not a crazy punch or a debilitating crash. Overall, Permanent Marker is of the quality you get with any other Funk House flower, but the lack of provenance from the cut, especially with brands like High Road and Pleasant Effects really killing it with that strain, it’s a bit of a hard sell.
