Death Star x Skunk Dog - Funk House Farm

It’s not a secret that I’ve been pretty impressed with Funk House Farms’ work over the last year or so, and being honest I thought that streak might end with Death Star x Skunk Dog because the eye appeal is just not in the same league as Runtz or Black Maple. That is, at least on the outside of the nugs, which if they weren’t large, golf-ball dense and geode-esque on the innards, would be in scrungly territory. Once it’s blended up, the freshness is obvious and the loudness is frankly even more impressive. The gas is just incredibly raunchy, not quite as funky as Chem but not as sweet as the sour leaning kush varietals. Flavor-wise, it’s really complex with three distinct layers: gas skunk, then funky chem and a sweet diesel lingering note. The hybrid is Death Star x Maui Skunk Dog, and be shocked if it wasn’t the Ohio Death Star cut that went into the breed. The cross should make this obvious, but it’s as potent as it is flavorful, maybe even more. It’s sort of between the uplifting energy or Sour and the pure relaxation of Chem, but it’s got a bit of a crash on the end of it. The onset isn’t laser quick, but the heavyness in the eyes and the remarkable head change also doesn’t creep up. Overall, Funk House crushed it with Death Star x Skunk Dog, but as I’ve seen in the past with strains they’ve run fewer times, there’s still room to fly before they hit the quality ceiling. This is definitely something I want to try when it gets more dialed in. Until then, I’ll keep enjoying getting fried like an egg in the morning with this current run.
